Chelsea look set to miss out on French superstar Paul Pogba this summer but they might just have found the next best thing.

The Blues are poised to confirm this capture of Swedish starlet Joseph Colley when the transfer window officially opens next month.

The 16-year-old Brommapojkarna youngster last week waved goodbye to his team-mates ahead of his dream move to Stamford Bridge.

Tall and versatile, the teenager is capable of playing at right-back or in the heart of the defence as well also as further up the pitch in midfield.

And the man tasked with coaching the young prospect, Brommapojkarna U19s boss Dali Savic, has told GetWestLondon Colley’s technique is similar to Juventus ace and Blues transfer target Pogba.

Savic said: “Joseph is in my opinion best best player in Sweden born since 1999.

“He is a leader on the pitch and in the locker room and has good technical and tactical skills already despite his young age.

Juventus and France star Pogba in pictures:

“He is strong and has excellent timing with his headers. Chelsea are signing a top young player.

“ I think JC is special and has a unique style of playing but if I have to pick one player [to compare him with] I would say Paul Pogba.

“His athleticism and quick technique with ball is similar to Pogba. JC can play as midfielder but probably is he going to be excellent as a full-back at senior level.

Colley’s transfer to the Premier League has been in the pipeline since December 2013 but the Blues allowed the player to remain in Stockholm to continue his development.

Savic has only been with the club for five months, with Colley’s future already set in stone before he arrived, however he see from day one why the Swede was being chased by top clubs.

Jose Mourinho's side beat Manchester United to sign the versatile prospect.

Savic continued: “I saw his quality from the first training session we had and I knew that he was going to Chelsea. My mission was to keep him on his toes and make him work hard.

“I don't know what plan Chelsea has for him, but I hope and think he is good enough for Chelsea from day one.

Farewell: Dali Savic presents Joseph Colley with a parting gift

“We have a good relation with Chelsea and the communication between the clubs has been excellent. JC was going over to London on a regular basis to train with them.”

Brommapojkarna are gaining an enviable reputation for producing quality talents as Colley will be joined in making the move by club-mate, Joel Asoro, who is signing for Sunderland.

Savic is proud to be overseeing the development of these players and believes they won’t be the last of the Stockholm superkids.

He added: “Joel Asoro is the best offensive player in Sweden.

“Brommapojkarna have the best academy in Sweden and it has been like that for at least the last 25 years.

“We have excellent coaches in the club, the club’s philosophy is clear and everybody follows it, the most talented players want to play for us because we are good at what we are doing.”
