Juventus want to keep hold of Juan Cuadrado next season and have entered into negotiations with Chelsea for the winger.

Incoming manager Antonio Conte watched the Colombian closely last season as he impressed while on loan at his former club in Serie A.

Conte liked what he saw for the player as he was a regular visitor to Turin to keep tabs on his Italy charges in his role as manager of the national team.

However, Cuadrado has settled well in Italy after struggling to adapt to life in the Premier League following his January 2015 move and would like to stay with Juventus.

Conte’s appointment at Chelsea has thrown something of a spanner into the works as he is interested in working with the 28-year-old at Stamford Bridge.

Given that reluctance to part with the speedy wide-man has led Chelsea to push for a better deal for Cuadrado.

Juventus are understood to have offered £1.7million for another season-long loan deal before a further £19m payment to make the move permanent at its conclusion.

The fixed fee for the transfer is believed to be the sticking point with Chelsea holding out for a higher price as they hold all of the cards in these talks.

The Blues are in regular contact with the Italian champions as boss Max Allegri is also keen to sign midfielders Oscar and Nemanja Matic this summer.

Cuadrado's agent Alessandro Lucci is understood to be flying to London in the next few days to discuss his client’s future.

Chelsea chiefs are looking for a figure closer to the £26million they paid to recruit him from Fiorentina last year.
