Asmir Begovic has named West Ham’s Dimitri Payet as the one Premier League player he would love to see Chelsea bid for this summer.

Payet has lit up Upton Park with nine goals in his debut campaign for the Hammers and earned himself a place in the PFA Team of the Year.

His contributions have fired Slaven Bilic’s side to the brink of the best domestic finish since 1999 and won him rave reviews from players and pundits alike.

Chelsea goalkeeper Begovic has also been impressed from what he has seen of the playmaker in his 27 appearances in the claret and blue shirt this term.

Such has been the impact of the Frenchman, Begovic has claimed he would love to see Payet make the move from east to west London when the transfer window re-opens.

“I would go for Dimitri Payet at West Ham,” he said. “He’s a fantastic player, a fantastic talent, he’s someone who I’d like to sign, possibly.”

Tempting Payet to join Chelsea could prove tough given he only signed a new five-year deal worth £125,000-a-week in February after declaring his love for West Ham.

“It's a show of faith from the management and also shows I want to sign up long term to the club,” Payet said. “All is well, the love affair continues.

“For sure I didn't think that I'd adapt so quickly and so well at the club.

“Fortunately it's happened like that and all the better, but it's always complicated to adapt oneself to a new club. I feel very good here and I want to stay.”
