Chelsea expect Romelu Lukaku to report back for pre-season training in two weeks despite reports of an imminent move to Everton.

Lukaku spent last season on loan at Goodison Park and last night it appeared Roberto Martinez was closing in on a deal to sign the forward on a permanent basis.

The Belgian striker is away on holiday after taking part in this summer’s World Cup while the rest of the Blues squad continued their preparations at AFC Wimbledon this afternoon.

Chelsea fly out to Austria for their pre-season tour of Europe on Monday.

Spaniards Fernando Torres, Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Cesar Azpilicueta will make the journey with the squad, along with Gary Cahill and new signing Filipe Luis.

Lukaku, along with compatriots Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, will be given extended leave due to their continued participation in Brazil.

They are due back a week later and Blues boss Steve Holland says he is expecting to see the Toffees target when Chelsea during the second week of the camp.

He said: “The plan is that he [Lukaku] will join up with us at some stage during the second week when we’re in Holland.

"That’s the situation as we speak.”

Wolfsburg and Juventus maintain and interest in the powerhouse striker, although Everton would appeal to Lukaku given his successful year on Merseyside last term.
