Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has played down talk of making a move for Brentford defender Harlee Dean, were Aden Flint to leave for Birmingham.

The Robins have reportedly been interested in the Bees' reigning player of the season as a potential replacement were the former Swindon man move to the Midlands.

However, Johnson has batted talk of making that move away, although he is a fan of the 26-year-old centre back.

He said: “I think Harlee Dean is a fantastic player but it's not one we'd do at this stage because, a he's contracted to Brentford and I know he's got things going on but we've got four centre halves.

“We've got (Hordur Bjorgvin) Magnusson and five with Aden (Flint). We've got Jens Hegeler, Bailey Wright and Nathan Baker. That'd be a no but I do think he's a fantastic player.”

When asked about Flint's future, Johnson insisted there have been no developments.

He added: “If I got a pound every time I'm asked about Aden I'd be a rich man. There's no news or no change as far as I know.

“If we can get one in, maybe two, I'll be wishing my life away to get the window shut.”
