Brentford are closing in on the signing of Celtic's Theo Archibald, according to reports in Scotland.

The 19-year-old has been on loan at Scottish third tier side Albion Rovers since January and he has made 13 appearances for the club.

Albion are, with two games left in the season, sitting in seventh place and, depending on how results go, could either win promotion through the play-offs to the Scottish Championship or be relegated to League Two via the end of season showdown.

Archibald has also impressed for Celtic's youth side, scoring a stunning goal against Manchester City in the UEFA Youth League.

And he helped the Hoops to a Youth Cup final triumph on Wednesday night.

Brentford are reportedly keen to tie the midfielder down to a three-year contract and it would be expected he would be a fixture for the B team to start with if the transfer went ahead.
