Rooney has thrived in Aberdeen, scoring 61 league goals in 125 games, and has also got experience in England.

He started his career with Stoke City, having loan spells at Yeovil, Chesterfield and Bury, before going to Scotland and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

His three years there yielded 44 goals in 103 appearances before he returned to England with Birmingham City.

He failed to earn regular football at St Andrews, making 18 league appearances and finding the net four times.
