Brentford sign Teixeira and get Martin Taylor on loan

Brentford have fought off competition from Serie A side Bologna to sign Liverpool youngster Joao Carlos Teixeira.

Brentford have fought off competition from Serie A side Bologna to sign Liverpool youngster Joao Carlos Teixeira.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has joined the Bees on loan until January and trained with his new team-mates at Jersey Road this morning.

Teixeira, who has appeared for Portugal at youth level, joined Liverpool for around £1million from Sporting Lisbon last year after he impressed against the Reds playing in the NextGen Series.

Meanwhile, Brentford have confirmed the loan signing of experienced Sheffield Wednesday defender Martin Taylor (pictured) .

The 33-year-old has agreed a one-month deal at Griffin Park and is in contention for Saturday's trip to Tranmere Rovers.
