Brentford have rejected a bid from Championships rivals Wigan Athletic for Adam Forshaw.

The midfielder scooped the League One Player of the Year award last season as the Bees won promotion to the second tier.

Forshaw's form has attracted the attention of other clubs and the Latics made an offer for the 22-year-old this week.

Star man: Forshaw in action for the Bees last season

However, Brentford are keen to hold on to one of their star players and have turned down Wigan's bid for the former Everton man, who still has two years remaining on his contract in TW8.

Forshaw has made 100 appearances for the Bees after initially arriving on loan from the Toffees in 2012, scoring 11 goals.

And the maestro told Get West London last month that he has no plans to jump ship.

"I'm used to all the speculation now after hearing things for the past year and a half," he said.

"You have to take it with a pinch of salt and, although any interest is flattering, your aim is just to do well on the pitch.

"My aim was promotion with Brentford and we achieved that. I've still got two more years left on my contract and am really happy here."
