Brentford have missed out on the loan signing of Everton forward Conor McAleny.
The 21-year-old made four appearances for the Bees earlier this season, only to have his loan spell at Griffin Park cut short after suffering a horrific leg break against Walsall back in August.
McAleny is back to fitness after a long spell on the sidelines and Brentford were expected to re-sign the Liverpool-born youngster this week, but the move hit a glitch and appeared dead in the water.
The Bees tried desperately to resurrect the deal over the past 24 hours in a bid to bolster their attacking options for the League One run in.
However, manager Mark Warburton will go with what he's got for the final nine games after missing out on his top target.
