Ryan Williams has left Brentford after the club agreed to terminate his one-year deal early.

The 24-year-old featured just once for the Bees in the Capital One Cup debacle against Oxford United.

The closest Williams came to playing in the Championship was when he was an unused substitute for the 2-1 win over Preston; Brentford were in the midst of their injury crisis at this point.

Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, told the club's official website: "When we brought Ryan to the Club last summer we had an opportunity to sign a player with talent that could be worked on and developed. It was a low risk signing with a potentially large upside for everyone.

“Whilst it hasn't worked out on the pitch, Ryan has been a positive influence around the Training Ground.

“He has demonstrated his professionalism to some of the younger players. We felt that it was better that Ryan took the opportunity to play regular football elsewhere rather than continue to train at Brentford. We wish him well for his future career."

Williams is understood to be training with Scottish Premiership side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
