Brentford will mull over whether to sign John Swift on a permanent basis, once Chelsea have decided what to do regarding his contract.

The midfielder, who was on loan at the Bees last season, is out of contract at Stamford Bridge and revealed there hadn’t been any talk over a new deal.

And co-director of football Phil Giles will weigh up whether snapping up the 20-year-old is the right thing to do.

He said: “We’re aware of the financial terms he’s looking for but we haven’t sat down with him about that.

“He’s technically still Chelsea’s player until the end of June I guess. He’ll have a chance to sit and think about his future and whether Chelsea are offering him anything to stay or whether he’d look to move.

“If he does look to move, I hope we’ve sold him Brentford as a club. He plays football in the way we play football. When he makes his choice, he has Brentford as a destination.”
