Mark Warburton has revealed Brentford could sign a defender within the next 24 hours.

The Bees are short of options following Ben Nugent's return to Cardiff, with Harlee Dean and Tony Craig the club's only two senior centre-backs.

Brentford are having a look at Forest Green Rovers defender Eddie Oshodi, as revealed by the Chronicle, but Warburton also has other irons in the fire.

But the Griffin Park chief admits he's waiting on other deals to go through before his preferred target becomes available.

"We are looking at centre-half options," he said. "We have a couple of targets, one loan and the other permanent.

"There's one in particular we are trying to get in but it depends on a chain of events and the bigger club getting their man.

"We are making good progress and should know more within the next 24 hours."

Brentford have already completed the loan signing of Blackburn Rovers midfielder Alan Judge and agreed a deal for Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom.
