Brentford have held positive talks about a new contract for Spanish wing wizard Jota.

Bees fans are desperate to see the Spaniard remain at Griffin Park this summer with the west Londoners triggering his 12-month option in May.

Brentford have history of cashing in on a player who has a year left on their deals and the club have been working on agreeing a new deal.

While they are yet to be in a position where a contract is signed, Rasmus Ankersen is feeling positive that a deal can be done.

He told GetWestLondon: “Everyone saw Jota's level at the end of last season. It's no surprise that he's a player that has attracted attention.

“I think we've done a lot for Jota and he's done a lot for us. We've had positive conversations with him but it's still too early to see an outcome on that.”

Burnley, Newcastle, Everton and West Ham have all been linked with the 26-year-old so far this summer.
