Brentford will this week run the rule over former Gillingham forward Ashley Miller.

The 20-year-old is a free agent after being released by Peter Taylor’s League One Gills in May.

Miller has spent time training at Ryman League Division One South outfit at the weekend as he gives himself a fitness boost ahead of a trial with the Bees.

“Ashley has been to one session,” Ramsgate manger Dean Hill told the Isle of Thanet Gazette.

“Unfortunately it’s nothing that exciting because he’s been to Dover and he’s off to Brentford this week.

“It was more that he’s someone I know, he’s just come back from America and he was bored on Saturday.

“I’d like to say he was signing because that would be brilliant, but he’s not. At the moment he’s around the pro clubs trying to get a contract, so we wish him the best in that.”

Miller made his professional debut for the Gills at the age of 16 in a 2-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers in November 2010.
