Hull manager Steve Bruce is confident the Tigers can secure the capture of Brentford full back Moses Odubajo along with Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom.

The Tigers activated the former Leyton Orient man's £3.5million release clause last week and the O's are due a 30 per cent sell-on fee.

It appears the Bees are resigned to letting him move to Humberside after an attempt to generate interest from Premier League clubs failed to result in further bids.

And it is understood Odubajo is in Hull today finalising a deal that will see him join the recently relegated Tigers.

Bruce said: "All being well, I hope we can get them over the line. I'm never going to count my chickens but they're just the type I'm looking for.”

The deal represents a tidy profit for the Bees, who will make in the region of £800,000 in profit, taking into account the £1m original fee, sell-on clause, Odubajo's wages and bonuses.

The Tigers are also keen on signing Andre Gray, and are preparing another bid after their first offer was knocked back, but Brentford are holding out for closer to £7millon for the striker, which would comfortably be the club's record sale.
