Brentford are keen to initiate a bidding war for full back Moses Odubajo and attract interest from Premier League clubs.

The right back, who joined from Leyton Orient last year, has been the subject of a bid from Hull and has expressed a desire to leave the club, missing their friendly defeat at Norwich.

The Bees are not keen to let him leave to a Championship rival and the language coming out of the club suggests they are flagging up Odubajo's availability and the £3.5million release clause to top flight teams.

A clause in his contract states Brentford have 21 days after the release clause is activated to find a higher bidder before the full back can speak to Hull

Standing firm: Marinus Dijkhuizen

Head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen told BBC London: “He has a clause in his contract meaning he can leave for an amount, which was bid last week. He decided for himself he didn't want to play and sees it as a big opportunity.

“We have a couple of weeks for other clubs to bid and I expect Premier League clubs to. He's a very good player and there are not very good right full backs so we have time for that.

“I think he will not be in the squad any more so that's a big loss for us.”

Buying clubs will be unwilling to pay more money up front for Odubajo but might be more prepared to insert add-ons and sell-on clauses to sweeten the deal. It is understood from sources at Leyton Orient, the O's are in line for 30 per cent of the profit from the original £1million fee.

Everton have been linked with a move for Odubajo in the past and other teams may be keen to strengthen their right back options with a young English full back, who can also be deployed further up the field.

Brentford have also knocked back a bid from Hull for Andre Gray, while Stuart Dallas is keen to leave the club amid a bid from Leeds. Jonathan Douglas has also been told he is free to leave the club.
