Brentford manager Mark Warburton has had his say on in-demand Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford.

The Bees want to take Bamford on loan next term and are offering the player the chance to play in his preferred central striking role to tempt him to Griffin Park.

Bamford is on Chelsea’s pre-season European tour as Jose Mourinho ponders the 20-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge.

Decision to make: Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho must decide what to do with Bamford

Mourinho’s Blues want to see the player tested at Premier League level and QPR are understood to be offering him that chance at Loftus Road.

Nothing has been decided yet, although it is unlikely that Chelsea will decide to keep Bamford at the Bridge given their recruitment of Didier Drogba and Diego Costa this summer.

Warburton wants to add two new faces to his Bees squad for the forthcoming Championship campaign and praised the talents of the England U21 international.

“There’s a lot of good players out there. I’m sure Patrick Bamford is one of many players that many clubs will be looking act. He’s a class act.

“We want one or more to come in this week and maybe a couple of the young ones need to go out on loan as well. The players we bring in have to add value on and off the pitch. It’s not just their skills out there.

“There are some really high-quality young players here and they need to continue their education by going and playing week-in-week-out. You look at the likes of Raphael [Calvet] who came on, he’s a French international, and he needs to go out and play week-in-week-out.

High praise: Brentford manager Mark Warburton says Bamford is a class act

“We don’t want to lose him but this is just part of his development. Three months or six months can benefit these guys enormously.”

Meanwhile, Adam Forshaw and Alan McCormack, who missed Saturday’s 3-2 win over Nice, will play a part against Osasuna on Tuesday.
