Mark Warburton insists he won't recall Will Grigg just to sit on the Brentford bench.

The striker has smashed six goals in seven starts since joining MK Dons in the summer on a season-long loan after being deemed surplus to requirements at Griffin Park.

However, the Bees have the option to bring the former Walsall frontman back to west London in the new year.

Man at the top: Brentford boss Mark Warburton

But boss Warburton says the Northern Ireland international will remain with the League One club unless he is ready to force his way into Brentford's starting XI.

He said: "Will’s a good player and is scoring goals. We’ll see how we are at Christmas. We have the option in January if it’s good for all parties.

"It’s good for us to chat to him. The door is always open, but it’d do Will no good coming off the bench. He wanted to play games."
