Adam Forshaw was left out of Brentford's squad for Saturday's pre-season friendly win against Crystal Palace amid speculation about his future.

The Bees rejected a bid from Championship rivals Wigan Athletic earlier this week as former boss Uwe Rosler attempts to bring the midfielder to the DW Stadium.

And manager Mark Warburton admits Forshaw has been unsettled by the rumours linking him with a move away from Griffin Park.

"Adam Forshaw was the subject of a bid from a rival Championship club," he told BBC London. "It always unsettled any player when you get that type of bid.

Speaking out: Brentford manager Mark Warburton

"Adam cares passionately about the game and I've gave him a couple of days to go away and think about things.

"A bid is only a bid when it's at a realistic level, and quite frankly it's nowhere near our level for a player who was League One Player of the Year last year.

"My disappointment is when a bid is made - is it a genuine bid or is it an unsettling bid? I've got to ask questions in that respect.

"We've had a couple of bids come in and it's nowhere near the required level. I'm disappointed that it's more of an unsettling effect rather than a genuine attempt to get a player."
