Dean Smith expects Maxime Colin to remain at Brentford for the coming season, despite speculation linking the Frenchman with a move away.

The full back is yet to agree a new contract at Griffin Park and the Bees have strengthened in the right back department as Henrik Dalsgaard joined the club.

Despite being tipped for the exit door in TW8, Colin, who is set to become a dad for the first time this summer, no discussions have taken place amongst the Griffin Park hierarchy.

Smith said: “Nothing at all. I'm expecting Maxime back for pre-season training. There's been no discussions on Maxime leaving the club, that's for sure.”

Dalsgaard has played further upfield in his early career but Smith sees him as a right back, or a right wing back if he plays three at the back again.

The head coach added: “He'll be seen in our eyes as a right back or a right wing back if we play a three. He's competition with Maxime Colin and Josh Clarke.”

Colin joined the Bees from Anderlecht in 2015 and has made 59 Championship appearances for the Bees, scoring on four occasions.
