Brentford will be looking to finalise a deal for a striker within the next fortnight, Marinus Dijkhuizen has confirmed.

The Bees are in need of a frontman to give Andre Gray support and competition and the lack of alternative options was one of the key weaknesses in the squad last season.

Gray has been linked with a move to Hull in recent weeks but Brentford would not sell until they have adequate options in that department, much like they did with Adam Forshaw.

Hot-shot: Andre Gray

The Bees have a shortlist of three frontmen from across European clubs, but any selling club will be keen to add reinforcements themselves.

“The directors of football (Phil Giles and Rasmus Ankersen) are working hard on it. In a couple of weeks we'll have a new striker,” Dijkhuizen said.

“We only have one at the moment so you have to be patient as other clubs are making deals.”

Brentford will play Tottenham in a behind closed doors friendly on Wednesday and will face Stoke at Griffin Park on Saturday.
