Brentford have accepted a bid from Leeds United for Toumani Diagouraga.

Rangers have been desperate to land the Bees midfielder this month, but have so far failed to meet his price tag.

And Steve Evans’ side have jumped to the front of the queue for the Frenchman after agreeing a fee with their Championship rivals.

Diagouraga is one of the longest-serving players at Griffin Park but is in the final 18 months of his contract.

He arrived in west London from Peterborough United in 2010 after coming through the ranks at Watford.

The ball is now in the player’s court to thrash out personal terms with the Yorkshire outfit and then pass a medical.

Bees manager Dean Smith yesterday told us he was letting the club’s directors of football handle negotiations for the midfielder.

Leeds signed Brentford winger Stuart Dallas in the summer and are close to adding Diagouraga to the Elland Road squad.
