Harrow Borough boss Dave Anderson hopes to add to his depleted striking options ahead of Saturday’s trip to title-chasing Dulwich Hamlet.

Anderson is in need of extra firepower for the journey south with Simeon Akinola battling to be fit from a hamstring problem picked up in last Saturday’s draw with Lewes – an injury which kept him out of the midweek win over struggling Carshalton.

Initially it was thought the mishap could rule the former Boreham Wood youngster out for up to eight weeks, but such fears proved unfounded, leaving the 20-year-old with an outside chance of featuring against Hamlet.

However, next Tuesday’s trip to Enfield or the following Saturday’s home game with Leiston are perhaps more realistic targets, meaning Anderson is keen to bolster his options in a bid to fill the void left by Akinola’s absence.

He said: “Simeon’s injury is not as bad as we first thought, so he may be available for Saturday. We will find out more later this week.

Simeon is a big player here and to ask someone to replace him is a big ask, so it needs to be more than one person taking on the responsibility to score goals, but I still hope to sign another striker.

Akinola is not the only one whose fitness Anderson is sweating on ahead of Saturday’s action with the likes of Rob Wolleaston and Anthony Maissiat (Hamstring) also in a race to be fit, while Michael Peacock, Adam Louth and Shaun Lucien all suffered knocks in the win over the Robins.

“The French lad (Maissiat) has a strain, so we are easing that on, while Rob may be fit for Saturday and I’m going to have to count the other walking wounded first before we see where we go from there.

It is one win each in terms of games between Borough and Hamlet so far this season with Anderson’s men winning the reverse league fixture, but subsequently going out of the FA Trophy to a last minute winner at Dulwich.

Borough’s unconvincing victory over Carshalton ended a seven-game winless run in the league for the men of Earlsmead, but Anderson is not convinced Tuesday’s showing will have any bearing on the outcome this weekend.

He added: “Dulwich will be a totally different proposition to tonight. It will be a totally different game-plan where our shape will be completely changed.”
