Brentford boss Mark Warburton is still hopeful of signing Wigan Athletic defender Rob Kiernan.

The Bees have been trying to bring the 23-year-old back to Griffin Park for another loan spell after his successful stint in west London last season.

However, the move has been delayed due to injury problems at the DW Stadium, with Latics chief Uwe Rosler ready to rubber-stamp the deal once he gets some of his defenders back fit.

"We're waiting to here back from Wigan, but we're trying very hard to get it over the line," said Warburton.

"Uwe knows our situation and once his problems become less acute hopefully we can get the player."

With Harlee Dean sidelined, captain Kevin O'Connor has been deputising in the heart of defence alongside Tony Craig.
