Brentford boss Mark Warburton remains hopeful of signing another defender before the transfer window closes on Friday.

The Bees have already brought in Alan Judge, Chuba Akpom and Nico Yennaris this month, but the search for a new centre-back has so far proved fruitless.

Brentford remain interested in re-signing Wigan's Rob Kiernan, while Oldham Athletic defender James Tarkowski is also on their radar.

Captain Kevin O'Connor has filled the void in the absence of the injured Harlee Dean, but Warburton will press ahead with plans to bolster his options ahead of the deadline.

He said: "We had no doubts about Kevin. He's had injuries but he's come though. He always works hard in training and he's the ultimate pro."
