Brentford manager Mark Warburton wants to see trialist Eddie Oshodi in action before deciding whether to make a move for the Forest Green Rovers defender.

The 21-year-old still has 18 months remaining on his contract at the New Lawn but has been training with the Bees this week in a bid to earn a deal at Griffin Park, as revealed by the Chronicle on Wednesday.

Warburton and head of academy Ose Aibangee know the centre-back well from their time working together at Watford.

However, the Brentford boss hopes to cast an eye over Oshodi playing for the development side against Ipswich Town next week before making a decision on his future.

He said: "I had Eddie at Watford from the age of 11. He's a very talented boy and played in the same England youth team as Jonjo Shelvey and Jack Wilshere.

"He lost his way a little bit but has done really well at Forest Green. He's technically good, quick and strong.

"Hopefully we can have a look at him against Ipswich if we get permission to play him."

Brentford are also interested in re-signing Wigan defender Rob Kiernan, who spent a spell on loan at Griffin Park last season.
