Neal Ardley will consider the loan market to bring in a new defender but the priority is to sign a player who is right for the group.

AFC Wimbledon have added Karleigh Osborne from Bristol City to bolster their back line but are keen to add more strength to their defence.

Ardley admitted he was having a difficult time at bringing a player in but there were irons in the fire still.

He said: “We're looking for another defender if we can. It's proving difficult but things can come out for the woodwork nearer the start of the season.

“We'd consider the loan market as we'd like to get the right player in and not just to increase numbers. We've got some irons in the fire but that's all they are.”

Ardley may be forced back into the transfer market depending on Callum Kennedy's knee injury, while Ade Azeez's ankle knock is not expected to keep him out for long.
