Alan McCormack has saluted Kevin O'Connor ahead of the Brentford veteran's probable 500th appearance for the club tomorrow.

O'Connor, who has been part of the Brentford first team for 15 years having come through the Griffin Park ranks, will reach the landmark is he plays any part against Stevenage tomorrow.

Despite only being his team-mate for one of those 15 seasons, McCormack knows just how much esteem O'Connor is held in at Brentford.

Team-mate: Alan McCormack

He said: "Kev deserves everything he gets. He's been a fantastic ambassador for the club off the pitch, but still has a lot to offer on it too.

"He still works hard every day in training and always has some advice for everyone else, and people feed off his enthusiasm.

"The fans adore him, and it will be fitting for him to get his 500th game as we celebrate our promotion. He deserves everything he gets, and it couldn't happen to a better man."
