Hayes and Yeading United face a strikers crisis after Scott Fitzgerald and Kieran Knight picked up long term injuries in Saturday's 1-0 defeat against Eastleigh in the Blue Square Conference South at Church Road.

United's failure to win for the fourth consecutive league match sees them slip to fifth place while Eastleigh are now second after Tom Jordan's 86th minute wiiner gave them all three points.

Fitzgerald sustained a broken collar bone during the first half and Knight has a broken toe, which means both players are likely to miss the Christmas period and beyond leaving H&Y manager Garry Haylock with a stikers crisis as he attempts to halt his side's recent slump in form.

Josh Scott also missed Saturday's match due to injury and another striker Staforde Palmer, is still short of match fitness after a lengthy lay off.

United's hopes on Saturday against the league's form team were also not helped when midfielder Will Hendry was shown a straight red card after 64 minutes - which means Haylock will be without another key player in the coming matches.

Eastleigh's winning goal came four minutes from time when Tony Taggart's free kick was headed home by the unmarked Jordan, son of Spurs coach Joe.

Defender Gary MacDonald has joined United from league rivals Bognor Regis Town and was an unused substitute on Saturday. The experienced MacDonald has played in the Blue Square Premier for Woking and Ebbsfleet United.
