Division One South And Westnorth Leigh 1 Uxbridge 0,

Tony Choules made four changes from Monday's defeat in a bid to find the right formula but the result was the same as Uxbridge slipped to 1-0 away to North Leigh.

The manager was rewarded with a much better start as Lee Tunnell saw a shot parried by Richard Barrett, who recovered to keep out Dave Lawrence's follow up and in the very next attack Kevin Warner ran on to a through ball but his volley was brilliantly saved by the home keeper who once again prevented Lawrence tucking away the loose ball.

Choules would have been happy with that initial burst, despite the lack of a goal and the Reds maintained their superiority throughout the first half as the Hellenic League champions had only a Mark Simms volley, which was straight at Paul McCarthy, to show in return.

Another rapid Uxbridge attack from Kevin Warner resulted in his cross finding Ian Dickens on a late surge but his header was just wide, while Barrett was quick off his line to deny Uxbridge yet again, David Warner the man left frustrated on that occasion.

Having been out-played for much of the opening half, the Oxfordshire outfit enjoyed a good spell of pressure after the break.

Karl Dodds glanced a header wide and Mark Threlfall also went close, but Simms came even closer when his point blank header was brilliantly turned over by McCarthy.

McCarthy later saved from Chris Allen but he was beaten when Simms got hold of the loose ball and produced a delightful chip to find the net with 17 minutes to go and the visitors could not conjure an equaliser, leaving them with just one point from their opening three games.
