Hayes and Yeading United made it three successive victories as they beat Newport County 2-0 at Church Road on Saturday (28/2) in the Blue Square Conference South.

United remain in sixth place but have now closed the gap to one point on Maidenhead United in the race for an end of season play-off spot.

Once again leading marksman Josh Scott was the star of the show creating United's first goal and then adding the second - his 17th of the season.

Scott's hard work set up Ram Marwa to head home for United on 11 minutes and then the livewire United striker fired home the second goal on 52 minutes.

H&Y were in control throughout against Newport and keeper Delroy Preddie was rarely troubled as he kept his second successive clean sheet.

Attendance: 311.
