Sacked David Moyes has nothing to prove reckons Harry Redknapp – and the former Manchester United boss will soon return to a top club.

However, the QPR manager reckoned the odds were stacked against Moyes soon after he took over last summer when he ran into problems rebuilding the Reds.

The Scot officially departed Tuesday amid rumours he was a dead man walking after the 2-0 defeat at Everton on Sunday.

But Redknapp dismissed the notion United broke a tradition of giving their managers time to succeed, as they did with predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson.

Harry said: “Sorry to see David Moyes to go so quickly. He needed a summer to build his own team. It was a bit of an ageing team, or a team that needed a bit of surgery if you like, so it was a shame.

“Man U are not a sacking club because they had a manager who was there 20 odd years.

“If they’d had a manager who was losing every week, they’d have sacked as many managers as anybody else.”

With Tim Sherwood’s future at Tottenham uncertain and with foreign names in the frame for both posts, Harry still believes the future for British coaches is assured.

He explained: “You look round and Brendan Rogers will hopefully win the league with Liverpool. That’s just the way it goes when managers leave.

“David Moyes has got nothing to prove after 10 years with Everton and I’m sure he’ll bounce back with a big club somewhere else.”
