Paul Hughes will have the first chance to put out HISHayes & Yeading United side when United visit Leamington on Saturday.

The new manager took charge for the first time last Tuesday when United were knocked out of the Middlesex Senior Cup 2-0 at Harrow Borough.

But due to competition rules, he could only field players already registered in that game, and not any new signings.

The first couple to have signed up for Hughes' revolution are familiar faces on the local non-league circuit, Josh Hutchinson and Ryan Hope, and more are expected through the in door this week.

Attacking midfielder Hutchinson has played for Wealdstone, Beaconsfield SYCOB and Chalfont St Peter amongst others, while defender Hope can name Harrow Borough amongst his former clubs.

Club chairman Tony O'Driscoll said: “Paul is settling in nicely but knows he's got a hell of a job on his hands. He took charge of the team, but the fact he could only use players already registered meant he got to take a look at them all.

“He will now be able to put his own team out. Josh and Ryan were the first ones in, and we expect Paul will want to sign some more. We haven't released anyone yet, but that may also change.”

O'Driscoll also believes Hughes is now ready for the task in hand, having turned him down for the job once before.

And another: Ryan Hope

He added: “Paul was our reserve team manager the year we went up to the Conference Premier, so we already knew what he was all about. He went for the job once before, but we felt he wasn't experienced enough them.

“He's certainly proved himself at Kings Langley, and with the amount of managers we have been through, we would like to think Paul will bring a period of stability as well as success.”

Following the trip to Leamington, United will host Egham Town in the second round of the League Cup on Tuesday night, at Beaconsfield SYCOB.
