Spartan Premier League
London Tigers 3-3 AFC Dunstable
This was a terrific ding-dong battle with Stavros Panagiotou chiming wonderfully for Tigers on Saturday to net both a hat-trick and a point saving equaliser in the last minute of added time.
AFC Dunstable scored first on a corrugated pitch that made purist football impossible, even though Jonathan Cooper fired home from the edge of the box.
Six minutes later, Emmanuel Njodzeka set up Panagiotou for his first courtesy of a post.
Then in the 28th minute the Perivale based side won another free kick. The ball reached the head from centre back Gregory Ngeno who nodded into the path of Panagiotou from 10 yards to put Tigers ahead.
Just after the break the visitors squared things up when Chris Francis was left clear to beat Tigers’ keeper Arlys Pampolim.
It got worse in the 66th minute after Taishan Griffith ran from the halfway line to restore Dunstable’s lead.
It looked as if Tiger labours would come to nothing, but where there was Panagiotou - there was hope.
Njodzeka used up the last of his sapping strength to make one last charge down the left. His cross was top drawer and picked out the hat-trick hero who slammed home from just inside the box to cue pandemonium from delirious team-mates.
