Fulham fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Madejski Stadium to see their dreams of a Play-off final at Wembley dashed by Reading.

Slavisa Jokanovic opted to make a single change for the second leg of the Play-off, with Neeskens Kebano coming into the side in place of Chris Martin with Fulham playing a false nine formation.

Reading started the better of the sides and had chances early on, the best falling to Yann Kermorgant who forced Marcus Bettinelli into a good save, while Tom Cairney and Sone Aluko made Ali Al-Habsi pull off a wonderful double save midway through the first half to deny Cairney's freekick and the follow up.

The away side struck first, however, when referee Martin Atkinson penalised Tomas Kalas for handling the ball in the box, with Kermorgant smashing home the spot kick five minutes into the second half.

It should've been doubled when John Swift somehow managed to hit the ball straight at Bettinelli from all of about three yards out when he had absolutely no one on him.

Lucas Piazon was thrown on in the 57th minute and he could've put Fulham level when he was picked out in the middle of the box, but his shot, which looked destined for the net, was deflected behind by a Reading man and to safety.

The Cottagers bombarded the Reading half for the rest of the game but were unable to make the breakthrough, here's how we rated the team.

Bettinelli 6: Was on hand to pull of a few good saves to keep Fulham in the tie, with his save from Kermorgant standing out. His kicking was a bit off tonight however and that put unnecessary pressure on the Fulham back four

Fredericks 6: Had a better evening than he did on Saturday and was the outlet for Fulham as they went looking for an equaliser in the second half. Struggled to pick anyone out in the box with his crosses however.

Kalas 6: Gave away the penalty but was strong in the first half when Reading were assaulting the Fulham back line early on. Did what he had to do after the penalty well but Reading will be kicking themselves that they didn't manage to score a couple more.

Ream 6: Had a solid first half and deal with the pressure of Kermorgant and Lewis Grabban well. Tried to set Fulham forward whenever he received the ball at feet at the back, often looking to the wings.

Malone 6: Was up and down the wing all game but his crosses posed little to no threat in the box. Replaced by Martin in the 73rd minute.

Cairney 6: Started to have more of an influence as the game progressed, and really started to pull the strings in the midfield at the end of the first half and into the second.

McDonald 5: Did a decent screening job in front of the Fulham defence and was willing to drive into the box where his presence was perhaps more felt.

Johansen 5: Struggled against Danny Williams with both playing the box to box midfielder role. Looked more of a threat in the second half but was never really in the same level of form we've seen through April.

Ayite 6: Was replaced after 57 minutes and didn't make the impact Jokanovic would've liked prior to the game. He had a few nice touches but his final ball was lacking which was a problem for most of the side.

Aluko 6: Tried to make things happen but was guilty of wasting chances. Still had a bagful of tricks, one of which nearly teed up McDonald but a wonderful save from Al-Habsi denied the Scotsman.

Kebano 6: Came off for Sessegnon in a double sub on 57 minutes and struggled for the most part. Had a similar problem to Ayite where his final ball was lacking, while the pair didn't get into the middle of the box enough for Malone and Frederick's balls to have any effect.

Subs -

Sessegnon 6: Was a danger out the left which is something Fulham perhaps lacked in the first half the game, with Sessegnon using the width a bit more than Ayite.

Piazon 6: Looked very handy when he came on and was unlucky to not equalise when his effort was deflected wide. Always wanted the ball in the box and hunted it down whenever Reading had it.

Martin 6: Was the presence Fulham needed in the box but never really received the ball to do anything with it.
