MK Dons 2-0 QPR

QPR’s play-off hopes took another blow after MK Dons boosted their survival hopes in Buckinghamshire this afternoon.

The Hoops will look back on this 2-0 loss at Stadium MK as a missed opportunity after they dominated the first half but failed to find the net.

Karl Robinson’s side, fighting for their lives near the bottom half of the Championship table, showed their teeth in the second half to score twice.

Out-of-form Matt Phillips was named on the bench at MK Dons this afternoon as QPR looked to build on last week’s win over Birmingham City.

The R’s winger dropped out of the starting XI while Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has drafted in Conor Washington, Ben Tozser and Nasser El Khayati in Buckinghamshire.

Alejandro Faurlin shook off a thigh complaint but was only fit enough for a place among the substitutes for the clash with the relegation-threatened Dons.

But Robinson’s men eased those fears here as Dean Lewington got them on their way with a rare strike to break the deadlock after the interval.

Rangers had spurned a plethora of chances before that point and were cursing their luck again when the Dons goalscorer appeared to get away with a handball.

Instead it was Milton Keynes who were awarded not one, but two penalties in the closing stages as referee Keith Stroud bore the brunt of the Hoops’ frustrations.

Alex Smithies kept out the first from Josh Murphy but couldn’t stop the second as substitute Ben Reeves sealed it for the hosts in injury time.

QPR: Smithies, Onuoha, Angella, Hall (Konchesky, 45), Perch, Tozser (Phillips, 58), Henry, El Khayati, Luongo, Chery (Polter, 71), Washington.

Subs (not used): Ingram, Faurlin, Petrasso, Diakite.
