Manchester City 6-0 QPR

QPR were relegated from the Premier League in humiliating fashion as Manchester City cruised to a resounding victory.

Rangers were, in essence, all but down at kick-off but Sergio Aguero's double ensured they would be playing Championship football next season.

The Argentine made it 1-0 after just four minutes as he raced through a static Rs defence with Steven Caulker failing to track him before lifting the ball over Rob Green to open the scoring.

Opener: Manchester City's Sergio Aguero scores their first goal

Aleksander Kolarov's free kick went through a gap in the QPR wall to beat Rob Green and make it 2-0 for the deposed champions.

And, when Yun Suk Young, miscontrolled it allowed Aguero to race through and make it three.

Matt Phillips bundled David Silva over in the area and allowed Aguero to complete his hat-trick, sending Green the wrong way before the Argentine teed up James Milner to tap home.

Doubled: Manchester City's Aleksandar Kolarov scores their second goal

QPR's supporters accepted their fate and sang for the remaining minutes but the final whistle confirmed last season's promotion counted for nothing as they return to the second tier.

David Silva made it 6-0 in the final minutes as Rangers went down with a whimper.

QPR needed to win to delay what appeared to be an inevitable return to the Championship but it wouldn't be Rangers without one drama or another taking hold as they confirmed, on the morning of the match, they had been advised not to play Sandro due to visa complications.

Sorted: Sergio Aguero scores the third goal for Manchester City

Given a host of injuries in defence, Chris Ramsey opted to play three at the back with Steven Caulker, Clint Hill and Richard Dunne lining up in the middle.Matt Phillips was deployed on the right flank with Yun Suk Young on the left.

Joey Barton, Leroy Fer and Karl Henry were the midfield trio with Charlie Austin and Bobby Zamora up front.

Rangers also had threeinexperienced players on the bench in Darnell Furlong, Reece Grego-Cox and Brandon Komley.

It was no surprise to see QPR on the back foot and their porous defence conceded after four minutes.

Four: Sergio Aguero scores the fourth goal for Manchester City and completes his hat trick from the penalty spot

Aguero picked the ball up in midfield and ran at the terrified defenders, passing them as if they were running in treacle, before slotting the ball over Green.

QPR's defence were guilty of poor organisation as Kolarov was able to fire the ball between Fer and Zamora to make it 2-0 past the unsighted Green.

Rangers came close to give their fans something to cheer about as Fer beat the offside trap and, with the goal gaping, Bobby Zamora's header was so soft Joe Hart could nip back to gather the ball.

Five (and not alive): James Milner scores the fifth goal for Manchester City

It was game, set and match for Manchester City as Yun allowed an intended pass for Aguero to slip by him and allow Aguero to waltz clear and make it three.

It was now a case of how many City wanted to score and they had a fourth from the penalty spot on the hour mark as Phillips bundled Silva over for Aguero to complete his hat-trick.

It was five as Milner couldn't miss with 20 minutes to go as the Argentine knocked the ball across goal for a tap-in.

Ramsey brought Shaun Wright-Phillips on to a rapturous ovation from the City fans and boos from the travelling QPR fans.

Silva made it six as he danced through the visiting defence and rounded Green to equal QPR's heaviest defeat in the Premier League along with Fulham.
