Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink reckons an arm around the shoulder of Sebastian Polter has finally brought out the best in the striker at QPR.
It took until just after Christmas for the summer signing from Union Berlin to get off the mark in the Championship, his strike against Huddersfield starting a glut of four in five games.
Then followed another eight games without a goal, but Polter was back on the score sheet against Brentford on Saturday, in a game in which the German led the line superbly.
Rs boss Hasselbaink said: “If you look at Polter, he's got a lot of good attributes. He is also one who needs to believe, needs an arm around his shoulder and needs to play from a platform.
“Let's not forget he's a German boy out of Germany for the first time, and he's only 24. He looks older but he's only 24, so he's doing very well for his first year in England.
“He just need to keep him doing well. He's somebody we really believe in, and he led the line very well today.
“That's what he has, he's a strong lad who won't get intimidated. You know what we say about the Germans – they work hard and put the work rate in – and he does.”
