Hayes & Yeading 1-2 Maidenhead

The second-half introduction of Kamaron English came too late to prevent defeat Hayes & Yeading slipping to defeat against Maidenhead on Saturday.

Two defeats in as many days made it a miserable Christmas for Phil Babb’s side as they followed up their Boxing Day loss with a 2-1 defeat to the Magpies.

Babb made one enforced change to the team that was beaten by Sutton as Huw Johnson came into the side for suspended defender Adam Everitt.

But the hosts made a disastorous start and found themselves behind with just five minutes on the clock at Kingfield.

Ex-Hayes & Yeading duo Leon Solomon and Richard Pacquette combined and it was the latter who got the opening goal with a header past Jamie Young.

The lead was doubled midway through the first-half when Charlie Wassmer conceded a free-kick and Danny Green expertly curled home the set-piece.

Johnson had the chance to fire in an immediate response from Geoff Mitchell’s centre, however the Magpies kept it out and went in two goals to the good at half-time.

English entered the fray on the hour mark, injecting new life into Babb’s battle-weary side, although it took until four minutes from time for the former Watford winger to make his mark.

Dan Thompson broke into the box and found English in space on the left, with the speed merchant doing the rest to narrow the deficit.

But it was too late for the home side as Maidenhead coped with the late onslaught to clinch three points on the road.
