North Greenford 3-1 AFC Hayes

Pride was at stake on the weekend as North Greenford saw off opponents AFC Hayes 3-1 at Berkeley Fields in a local derby.

North Greenford sit one point ahead of AFC Hayes in the Evo-Stik Southern division after 41 games, however both teams have been set on relegation for next season.

Anton Robinson gave the hosts the lead within the first minute, before George Moore doubled their lead in fantastic style.

Eugene Asante then gave the visitors a life-line just before the half-time whistle, but North Greenford made the win theirs with four minutes to spare through Vianny Kokolou.

North Greenford wanted to send out a message, and it took them a minute to set the ball rolling; Anton Robinson breaking into the opposition’s box before firing a low drive past Sam Mazurek into the bottom corner.

Chances came and went for both teams but it was the hosts who doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark through George Moore.

A long thrown in caused problems for the visitors and instinctively the attacking midfielder skilfully looped an overhead kick over Mazarek and doubled the home side’s lead, but AFC Hayes weren’t dead and buried yet.

With half-time approaching Jordan Berry created a golden chance to set-up Eugene Asante who steered his shot past Yvan Imbert to not celebrate, however after scoring the striker was subbed off Dujon Desagurante after picking up an injury.

The second half saw the hosts come out the stronger side and create number of chances to put the result past Paul Palmer’s side, but the finishing touch wasn’t on their side.

Marlon Kabi and Vianny Kokolou both having chances to test the AFC Hayes defence yet no final product came of it.

It was then with four minutes to spare in the game Kokolou came up with a piece of individual quality to send North Greenford home with three points.

The left-midfielder beat Jerome Ecclestone for pace and strength before going one-on-one with Mazarek and finishing in style by dinking his shot over the keeper from a tight angle in front of the North Greenford fans.

Considering both sides have been relegated AFC Hayes will take on Leighton Town next at home, while North Greenford host Potters Bar Town.
