Brentford's sporting director Mark Warburton insists the club will not let the sudden departure of Uwe Rosler blow them off course.

The Bees are out of the FA Cup after a 3-2 defeat at Carlisle United, with the players having had little time to adjust to the loss of their manager.

But Warburton did not blame the defeat on that shock and says it will be business as usual in the weeks ahead.

"Was it easy for the players? No," he told Bees Player.

"The manager's resigned. It's difficult for the players and difficult for the staff, but they are professionals. They deal with it and move on from there.

"We've had a good season to date and we must continue that - be very positive and move forward.

"The most important thing this week has been the new stadium, which is fantastic for the club and it's a good sign.

"You don't lose your staff when you're bottom of the league or relegated, you lose them when you're doing well. It's happened and we have to move forward.

"It happened very quickly. Could Uwe have taken the game today? I don't think it would have been appropriate, and I think we've done it the right way.

"I'll speak to the owner and the board and we'll look to move as quickly as possible for the right candidate to take the squad forward - to continue the good work done by Uwe and his staff."

Reflecting on the performance at Brunton Park, Warburton added: "You never want to lose, simple as that. The boys are disappointed. Played some decent stuff. It was maybe slightly below our level of late, but it's one of those things."
