Rene Meulensteen insists Fulham must learn from their mistakes after going down 4-1 at Everton.

Dimitar Berbatov's second-half penalty had cancelled out Leon Osman's early opener, only for late goals from Seamus Coleman, Gareth Barry and Kevin Mirallas to heap more Goodison Park misery on the struggling Cottagers.

And boss Meulensteen has ordered his players to learn from the loss.

He said: "The first half we just didn't get going but we had some words at half-time and I thought we were brilliant for 25 minutes after the break.

"We were positive, we pressed them. A couple of our lads had chances and we improved.

"I think Everton are bursting with confidence after recent results and they took their chances.

"We can do better and we will learn from this. We will certainly continue to work hard."

Everton broke the deadlock when Osman running latched on to a Steven Pienaar pass to slot past Maarten Stekelenburg.

Fulham improved after the interval and squandered a string of chances to equalise before Berbatov made it 1-1 from the spot following a foul on Alex Kacaniklic.

However, Everton got their noses back in front when Coleman scored in the 73rd minute. Late goals from Barry and substitute Mirallas sealed victory for the high-flying hosts.
