Stavros Panagiotou's thunderbolt from range wasn't enough as London Tigers fell to a Spartan South Midlands Premier Division defeat 3-1 at Berkhamstead on Saturday.

Panagiotou's sensational strike had pulled the score against the league leaders back to 1-1 but the hosts went back in front almost immediately before going on to wrap up the victory.

In a rigid first half, Berkamsted took the lead after half an hour when Adiel Mannion  swept the ball beyond the grasp of Helio Gomes in the Tigers goal after some deft footwork.

The visitors came out for the second half roaring, however, when Panagiotou's strike flew into the net from range, in sensational style.

But the hosts weren't to be denied the three points, and they immediately struck back after BJ Christie finished from a narrow angle.

Christie added the fourth and final goal of the match with 20 minutes remaining to leave Tigers in 19th albeit with multiple games in hand over nearby teams.

The west Londoners are back in action on Wednesday night with a trip to AFC Dunstable.

Elsewhere, Harefield United beat London Colney after goals from Mark Smith and Michael Chennells saw the hosts to three points and third in the table.

Harefield travel to Hoddesdon Town in the first round of the Dudley Latham Memorial Cup tonight, before making the same trip in the league on Saturday.

Hillingdon Borough lost an epic encounter 3-2 to Hadley to remain in 20th place.

They rushed into a two goal lead after early strikes from Aaron Silcolt and Danilson Vincente, before Hadley came back with three second-half goals to steal the points.

Borough's opponents on Saturday are Wembley, who fell to a late strike five minutes from the end to lose 1-0 at Oxhey Jets.

The visitors, stuttering after their great start to the season, will look to get back to top form tonight at Colney Heath.

Meanwhile, in Division One, struggling Edgware Town lost 3-0 against Arlesey Town Reserves.

Edgware, who are moving to their new home ground in Kingsbury this week, have only won once in all competitions this season but will look to gain a second win against Northwood Reserves in the Middlesex Premier Cup first round tonight.

Southall , who were without a match this weekend, are in action in the same cup when they face Bush Hill Rangers.

In Division Two, Ealing Town earned a 3-1 victory against Clean Slate thanks to three goals in the final 17 minutes from Omer Omer, Jordan Rocco and Nathan Rose.

Ealing will be looking to build on that victory on Saturday when they travel to Hale Leys United.
