London Tigers paid the penalty as they crashed to a narrow 2-1 defeat at Hadley on Saturday.

The Tigers conceded as early as the first minute and they spurned a late opportunity to grab a point as Emmanuel Njodzeka’s spot-kick was saved to see the hosts emerge victorious.

Tigers went behind before even touching the ball.

Hadley kept possession from the kick-off before Ivan Machada found himself in space and fired an unstoppable effort beyond the helpless Luis Mendes de Brito.

Despite the early shock the Tigers recovered well and dominated most the first half, but failed to turn possession into goals and went into half-time with the home side still 1-0 up.

Hadley doubled their lead just before the hour and it was a case of third time lucky for Jernade Meade who had his first two efforts saved before finding the back of the net.

The pressure finally paid off in the moments later when they pulled one back through Sebastian Philogne, whose early shot gave Mann no chance in the Hadley goal.

Then a sweeping move involving Ayoub Amellal, Philogene and Simon Noel resulted in Noel's effort being well saved by Mann.

But when Amellal was brought down just inside the box it looked as though Tigers would share the spoils with the hosts.

However, Mann saved well from Njodzeka's penalty diving to his right.

London Tigers piled on the pressure to snatch an equaliser and the opportunity fell to Noel in the dying moments but he ballooned his effort over the bar from just eight yards out.

Tigers will look to return to winning ways when they face Leverstock Green next time out.

Elsewhere, Harry Newman scored a hat-trick as Harefield United cruised to victory against Holmer Green.
