Loic Remy scored the only goal of the game as Chelsea signed off for the season with a win over Sydney FC.
The Frenchman’s stunning first-half strike proved the difference between the two sides Down Under in front of 83,598 fans at the ANZ Stadium.
Sydney thought they had claimed a share of the spoils in the closing stages when Seb Ryall bundled the ball home from close range.
However, the referee came to Jose Mourinho’s rescue to spare his blushes and ensure the Blues ended the campaign on a high.

Mourinho said: "I'm happy with my senior players, it's been a very long season for them.
"[Sydney FC have] lots of young players, good coach. Stability in the team.
"I was impressed. I liked what I saw.
"People in Sydney are so nice and so enthusiastic. I was happy to know people liked us.
"It can't be 40 years until we come back again."
Meanwhile, Sydney FC head coach Graham Arnold labelled Chelsea star Eden Hazard as ‘ridiculous’ following another fine performance for the Blues.
