Brentford secured an impressive 2-1 victory on the road at Reading in a game that will be remembered for some great goals.

Ryan Woods scored a candidate for goal of the season as he rifled home a 25-yard screamer to give the visitors the lead at the break.

Gareth McCleary levelled soon after half time after some wonderful passing between him and Matej Vydra.

However, Liverpool loanee Sergi Canos produced a rival to Woods' effort beating Stephen Quinn, in Paul Gascoigne style, then Michael Hector before lashing a shot home. The on-loan Chelsea defender's afternoon was made worse after he was shown a second yellow, then a red, for diving.

The Royals were the better side in the opening exchanges but found themselves a goal down after 17 minutes as Woods was allowed too much time and space to lash home from 25 yards.

Reading continued to press, although David Button was never tested, and the Bees held on to the lead at the break.

Brian McDermott brought on McCleary and Vydra at half-time to try and change the game and the pair combined to level the scores.

However, the Bees weren't to be denied and Canos brilliantly controlled a ball over the top, gave himself room after beating Quinn and Hector and fired home to restore the lead.

Hector's nightmare was complete after he tried to win a penalty in disingenuous fashion and was dismissed for a second bookable offence.
