Brentford 1-0 Oldham Athletic

Jonathan Douglas headed home a stoppage-time winner to give Mark Warburton the perfect start as Brentford boss.

The Irishman found the breakthrough in the 93rd minute when he nodded in Sam Saunders' deep cross to extend their unbeaten run to nine league games.

Warburton kept faith with the side that beat Notts County a fortnight ago, with club captain Kevin O'Connor back in the squad for the first time since September.

The Bees dominated the opening half hour, but failed to seriously test Mark Oxley in the Oldham goal.

Harlee Dean had a header comfortably saved, while Will Grigg's long shot was easily gathered by the Latics No1.

Brentford had a let off when Alan McCormack gave away possession cheaply on the halfway line. Oldham piled forward in numbers, but Carl Winchester was caught in two minds and allowed Tony Craig to get a block in.

Clayton Donaldson and Grigg flashed efforts wide, while at the other end Mike Petrasso dragged a shot the wrong side of David Button's left-hand post.

Warburton introduced Saunders on the hour mark, with the sub almost having an instant impact, but Genseric Kusunga deflected his effort wide.

The Bees had a let off at the other end when Adam Forshaw's slip let in James Clarke-Harris, but he smashed his effort over.

Warburton brought on Marcello Trotta and Farid El Alagui as the hosts searched desperately for a winner.

Oldham went close through Kusunga's header, while Donaldson had a penalty shout waved away as the sides looked like heading for a share of the points.

However, Brentford won in in injury-time when Douglas powered in Saunders' deep cross.
