Rotherham United 0–2 Brentford
A brilliant win for Brentford at Rotherham this afternoon was overshadowed by a nasty looking injury to striker Scott Hogan.
With 10 minutes remaining, sub Hogan, who had only been on the pitch for 15 minutes, in only his second game since coming back from injury, went down under a sickening twist of his knee and was stretchered off.
By then, the Bees were a goal to the good, but it was Rotherham who started the brighter, and the visitors had a double let off when Richard Wood rattled David Button's crossbar with a header before the Bees keeper scrambled to push Ben Pringle's follow up around the post.
Andre Gray then dithered when he should have played in Alan Judge, who was in acres of space to his right, leading to a Rotherham break, from which Jake Bidwell got over superbly to block an effort from Pringle.
Soon after, Alex Pritchard headed over following a lovely ball in from Judge, while at the other end, James Tarkowski cleared the danger when Matt Derbyshire found himself in on goal before the same striker directed a free header wide.
Gray then just failed to get on the end of a brilliant run and cross from Jota, before Paul Taylor became the second Rotherham player to curse the woodwork when he struck the bar from the edge of the area.
But it was the Bees who took the lead in first half stoppage time when a quick break led to Judge releasing Gray to finish superbly from a tight angle on the the area.
But they had Button to thank for keeping them in front on the hour mark when Tarkowski horribly misjudged a through ball and let Derbyshire in one on one with the Bees keeper, who rushed out to save superbly with his feet.
Gray was shaping up for his second soon after, but Judge's cross following a superb run struck him and went out to play before he could get any proper contact on it, while Button got down brilliantly at the other end to keep out a strike from Taylor.
Sub Nick Proschwitz, who came on for Hogan, could have wrapped the game up within a minute of coming on had he got any kind of touch on Pritchard's teasing ball in, but just failed to do so.
But the big German was there when it mattered in injury time, finishing from a yard out after fellow sub Jon Toral skilfully played him in to make the game safe.
