Wolfsburg lead Fulham 1-0 at half time thanks to a John Brooks header in a game with very few chances.

Tom Cairney, Kevin McDonald and Neeskens Kebano were all absent from today's starting line-up as Slavisa Jokanovic gave a debut to Oliver Norwood, while Tomas Kalas made his second coming.

Fulham had a good chance to take the lead 13 minutes in when Stefan Johansen threaded a ball through the middle of the defence to find Sone Aluko, but his strike was too tame to trouble Koen Casteels.

Wolfsburg took the lead when Brooks rose highest to head in a looping header completely unmarked in the box, much to the dismay of David Button.

Here's how we rated the side at half time.

Bettinelli 6: Didn't have very much to do in the first half but was forced off after 30 minutes with an injury.

Fredericks 6: Had a solid half in the right back berth without very much to do. Had a few moments going forward where he looked dangerous but Fulham struggled to use him as they allowed Wolfsburg a lot of possession.

Sessegnon 6: Looked good defensively at left back and dealt with the threat of Kaylen Hinds well throughout the half. Wasn't able to get forward as much as he or Jokanovic will have wanted though.

Johansen 6: Was the outlet for Fulham in the first half and made sure Fulham had some thrust going forward.

Ayite 6: Was up and down the left flank constantly and put in a good shift going both forward and back.

Ream 6: Looked fairly comfortable with Kalas at the back although there were a few moments where he gave the ball way easily.

Norwood 6: Was tidy in possession and looked like he was linking up well with Johansen going forward.

Piazon 6: Didn't have too much of an impact on the first half - looked good in the first couple of minutes but apart from that had very little say on the rest of proceedings.

Aluko 6: Came deep to get the ball and wanted to make himself available for any breaks, but was starved of possession as a result of Wolfsburg's dominance.

Kalas 6: Was eager to make an impact as he returned to the Cottage and he looked good value, stepping out of defence and charging forward when nesseccary.

Cisse 6: Put himself about in the middle of midfield and constantly hounded the Wolfsburg midfielders, allowing them very little time on the ball.

Button N/A: Wasn't on long enough to warrant a score this half.
